Grid Sampling
Soil surveys are an important tool for nutrient management planning. They provide useful information for interpreting soil test results and predicting response to added nutrients. Most of the natural variability in soil nutrient levels and productivity is due to the characteristics documented in the soil survey.
Grid soil sampling is perhaps the oldest precision agricultural technology around. The benefits are clear and by accurately placing fertilizer you increase the probability of seeing a response to applied fertilizer. Almost all fields have a tremendous amount of variability in pH, phosphorus (P), and potassium (K). This variability often means the difference between being deficient and sufficient in various parts of the field
Advantages:
- Potential fertilizer savings
- Placing fertilizer where it needs to go
- Potential for increased yield
